5 things to do before your game of golf

The success of your round of golf is partly dependent on your preparation before you go to the first tee.

Here are the 5 things you should do before playing your game of golf.

1 Allow plenty of time to get to the course before your tee time. The last thing you want to do is be rushing through traffic to get to the golf course. If you do this you will be stressed,you may be hot, and you will certainly be stressed.

Decide how long you need to practise before your round and aim to be at the course an hour before you practise.

2 Eat and drink the right things

Even if you just walk the course it is likely to be 4-5 miles.

You wouldn’t go on a 5 mile walk without water so make sure you drink water before the round and take some with you.If you don’t drink enough water you will be dehydrated and your performance will suffer towards the end of the round as you get tired.

By all means eat a meal before you go out but be sensible.

Don’t eat lots of meat,which will sit uncomfortably inside you and make you feel bloated.Also avoid starchy and sugary foods.

Make sure you carry healthy snacks like fruit and nuts in your golf bag.

3 Warm up before you play

In the round of golf you will be using muscles that you may not use in the normal course of your daily routine.The last thing you want to do is pull a muscle,when it could be so easily avoided by exercising and stretching for 10-15 minutes.

4 Don’t just practise on the putting green

Many club golfers spend time on the putting green before a round and rarely practise their swing.If you watch the professional golfers they have a routine which they stick to. They go through a routine of using their woods,long irons and short irons before stepping onto the putting green.

5 Clear your mind

We have already established that success at golf,like all sports, is partly in the mind. As you walk onto the first tee it is important to be in the right frame of mind.
