Learn Ben Hogans Secret

This is the second episode in a series of 7 videos for the Ben Hogan Golf Equipment Company. Each video tells the story about my quest for the perfect set of golf clubs, and ends with a Hogan swing lesson.

In this video I head to Urban Golf Performance where I test the lofts of my old Ben Hogan irons. It turns out the 5 irons play like 6 irons and I decide it's time to get fitted for the new Fort Worth 15's!

And, for the first time I am offering a new instructional series from My Swing Evolution! All of my lessons and insights are condensed into one video that is 1 hour and 21 minutes long!

You can click on the link below for more details!

The video is available for download for $29.95 or for a one day rental for $19.95.

Great vid Christo and congrats on the upcoming fw15s. What’s the last set
of “new” irons that you bagged? Or have you always played the old blades?

    • myswingevolution says:

I’ve got lots of sets of irons. I’ve tried to hit as many good irons as I
could but I put the Fort Worth 15’s far ahead of the pack.

    • Matt Combs says:

+myswingevolution cool. I was just wondering cause you got a baseline
reading from those old Hogans so I thought that may have been what you
      always bagged.

  2. Sam Tamberelli says:

I really like these first 2 episodes! Those new Hogan irons look really
cool! Stoked to see how the fitting goes!!

    That’s just fantastic, Christo!
After playing the Hogan Apex 2s, Apex Redlines and then the Apex ’99s in my
career, I bought the Fort Worth 15 irons and TK15 wedges in April, and got
one of the first sets here in Australia! These clubs are simply wonderful.
Birdied the first hole I played with them and never looked back.
Its really great to hear you’ve got a set and sponsorship!

  4. slide83 says:

Cool video. Are they making woods also?

  5. Colm Devine says:

Really enjoyed the video Christo. Can’t wait to see you hitting these new
    Hogan irons. Best of luck.

  6. J@D W says:

Weird how much the weight of clubs has changed since Hogan played. A
graphite TaylorMade 6 iron weighs 3 ounces less than a MT Tourney 6 iron.

  7. Håkan Olander says:

Great idea to wrap up with a little “gold nugget” advice. Really like your
set-up. Makes us all wait for the next :-)

  8. FairwayJack says:

Man …if you could join the tour and win …even the Champions Tour (in
the future)… you could make Ben Hogan equipment fly outta the stores.
This is a great story ….good luck

    • myswingevolution says:

Haha! That’s a nice dream. I am completely aware how far away I am from pro
golf, but looking how far I’ve come since 2011 it’s nice to fantasize. If I
spend the next four year mastering the short game, while refining my long
      game, who knows?

  9. x sauceda says:

that loop is what I read Hogan describing to John Schlee. I’ve really
gotten to using it in conjunction with pulling my right elbow down at my
right hip bone and for the first time in over 30 years of pretty decent
golf, I’m finally using the power of my right arm!

    • myswingevolution says:

It’s taken me so long to really understand this stuff and I still have a
lot to learn, but what I’m doing now I have never seen in a golf mag or on
      TV! And, I’m crushing it!

  10. rick petryk says:

thanks for sharing the experience. I eagerly await the day they start
producing lefty irons. My 1st set of clubs were apexII blades. also thanks
for the shallow in out tip!

    • myswingevolution says:

I’m sure it won’t be long and I’m so glad you liked the tip. Some greats
had a tiny over the top move like, Snead, but they were so deep it didn’t

  11. rick petryk says:

I have been struggling to the my elbow in the Shangri-la position. I now
    have a better understanding thanks!

  12. Chris Banner says:

I’m very pleased that your hard work is paying off in the connection with
Ben Hogan irons Christo. Can I ask a question. When I pull out my White
Cameos I have an imagery of the great man, a connection, and what needs to
be done with the shot I face. This makes me work harder at the precision
and execution. When I pull out my Ping i15’s I have no Hogan imagery, only
a normal shot visualisation, so I don’t focus as much. This causes me to
feel I play better with my Hogans. Do you feel different depending on which
    irons you use?

    • myswingevolution says:

Wow, I’m into the mental side but I haven’t taken it that deep! I do love
the Cameos. I’m working on some stuff now with Sam Goulden that I hope to
tell you about in the near future in regards to mental strength.

  13. Alex Nuschke says:

The day in which you released this video the Hogan Golf Company announced a
new set of irons coming out soon, new hybrids and new long irons.
Considering you are now sponsored by them, hopefully you’ll get to review
them all in addition to the Forth Worth 15’s.

  14. Larry Lauck says:

First I want to say that I really enjoy your web site. I’ve been watching
for a long time. I also want tell you that my first fitted clubs were Hogan
APEX. I played them for about 10 years. Callaway pulled them before I could
get a new set, so I went to Mizuno. I found it really funny that the first
picture you see when you go to the Hogan site to get fitted for you
precision irons was one of the man himself, using a hammer on a golf club.
They should probably find a better photo. The new irons look great, but I
doubt they will sell many at $1500 a set, but I’m glad you’re going a set
so you can let us know how they really play. The swing is looking great by
    the way.

    • myswingevolution says:

Thanks a lot, Larry. I think that picture of Mr. Hogan working on clubs is
awesome! Haha. That’s cool that you were fit for the Apex before. The new
Hogan irons perform at the highest level, too.

  15. ontwins says:

Hi, Christo. I love this series on the hogans. I had some in the 90’s and
still wish I had them. This def makes me want to get some of these. I do
have a question I apologize if it has been asked. Could you go over your
bag layout. I carry a 1,3,5 wood and when I was at Hogan site they wanted
to add a 60 deg wedge but im not sure what club I would eliminate from the
longer clubs. Thank you for the videos, they have all been very inspiring.

    • myswingevolution says:

For me, I have never been comfortable with high lofted wedges since I grew
up with a 56 and that was it. But, I started with a 61 degree and now I
love it! I hit my 5 iron 210+ so it’s between my hybrid and my 4 iron and I
      choose depending on the course.

  16. Serg Kaizen says:

Bingo! Thanks again! I was watching swing lessons from Don Mattingly last
night to get ideas. Even though lefty I got tremendous mental feedback from
Mr Mattingly in plain simple terms.
